    The Data Liberation Initiative" provides Canadian academic institutions with affordable access to Statistics Canada data files and databases for teaching and research.

    The DLI is a co-operative effort by the Humanities and Social Science Federation of Canada (HSSFC), the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), the Canadian Association of Public Data Users (CAPDU), the Canadian Association of Small University Libraries (CASUL), Statistics Canada and other government departments.

  • ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research) mcmaster access only
    The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), established in 1962, is an integral part of the infrastructure of social science research. ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. In addition, ICPSR provides user support to assist researchers in identifying relevant data for analysis and in conducting their research projects.
  • Statistical Data Documentation System (SDDS) (Statistics Canada)
    Descriptions of all current and some discontinued statistics gathering programs within Statistics Canada, including contact information, topics, publication notes, data collection methodology, dates and frequency, population/universe, geographic and SIC coverage, dissemination, catalogued and uncatalogued publications (with STC catalogue numbers) other statistical data products (including microdata files), and CANSIM matrix numbers.

     A widely recognized, comprehensive system that describes and organizes occupations in the Canadian economy. It represents a classification structure with descriptions of the 520 occupational unit groups - covering more than 30,000 job titles that constitute the Canadian labour market.
